I looked at where he is from and then checked his profile and found he is from Bluegrass Country in Kentucky where there are miles of white board fences and the cash crop is race horses. He's going to smuggle weapons into Canada and he has his very dark picture, his name, and he has described how and when he intends to cross the border with his false gas tank. With his attitude he will possibly make it in a Canadian lockup. I don't think Alaska has anything to fear from someone who delivers pizzas to rich folks on their flat land pastures between Lexington and Georgetown. There ain't no mountains where he comes from. It's not Florida so the overpasses on the Interstate aren't the highest points in sight but trying to find a mountain in his area is a futile project.

all the bs of this thread let me say i have alot of question marks in my life as i think most ppl my age do. the only sure thing i am doing is automotive school but other than that i am not happy with alot of stuff and i feel like seeing north america for the 4th time will help with that i know that when i graduate i want to settle into a small town where i can go into the solitude often. simply put the east dont have big skies huge snowy peaks plains or deserts canyons or volcanoes or space for a man to breathe thats all i am asking for is a little space with a campfire. so many ppl i see in my age range settle in for the statos quo and have ideas or plans but never do them because they have a girlfriend who wont let them or a boss who may as well own them or in my case parents who bash every decision i ever make other than going to church on sunday. i feel and know that there is alot more to the world than metro cincinnati and i intend to find it.

Just take Alaska in baby steps when you get here. Don['t bite off a big hunk before you are ready. Do road camping at first with short hikes. That will introduce you to mosquitos and such. You will learn about muskeg, mountains, and rivers with no bridges. Learn Alaska in bits and pieces or it will kill you.

You can't just go out and build a cabin these days on public land, you will get in a heap of trouble, but you can tent camp in a lot of places. Get a job some place for the winter, don't try to live off the land your first winter, you will die. After your first winter you will learn that almost no one really lives off the land. You will need money to purchase the essentials. All the places you mentioned will feel mighty tame after a few years in Alaska, especially if you get off the road system and outside the towns.

If you get in the Palmer area, give me a call. I'll meet you for coffee and give you some pointers.
i may take you up on that but i dont do the whole cell phone thing its part of babylon, if you see a tall skinny white guy in town you will know me when you see me i'll scream nutjob but in reality i am the exact opposite just searching for a good view and good camping
