Question What's the drive like from Anch. to Valdez?

Does anyone know what the drive from Anchorage to Valdez is like in the summer and winter? What's the highway like? Are there many stops/gas stations, camping areas? Is it driveable in the winter? Do many locals from Valdez drive to Anchorage? How long is the drive? Thanks!

Drive is about 6 hours in summer. Could be an hour more in winter, but be prepared if the snows come through for real delays. Lots of gas stations in summer, some close for the winter. More than enough to stop once or twice for a head call if you need it. Beautiful drive.

While looking for pictures I found this one of a boat blown off its legs on Valdez Small Boat harbor drydock the winter of 2006.

WWR? You mean whole wheat radio? I'm gonna miss the wheatstalk 2007. I'm headed to Sweden the 20th of this month, until July 2nd.
But in August she is coming to Alaska, and I want to take a drive down to Valdez. I've never been there. I hear the drive is scenic.

Yes she is from Sweden. We were hoping she could come here this month and we would have made wwr. But...it's gonna be the other way around. I'm going there first. So you'll have to fill in for me in Talkeetna. Keep Jim in line and give Esther a hug for me!
And the drive to Valdez sounds like what we are looking for. Thanks FT!
