Default moving to Albany, about school district

Small family with one 2 y kids plan to relocate to albany area. After shop around the nearyby albany, we kind of like the westmere and suny campus area. The thing is that if we bought the house at albany school district but very close to westmere elementary school (3 miles). Could it be possible to choose guilderland school or it has to be albany school which is much far from the house (7 miles). I am not familiar with american educaiotn system if anyone would like to give me some advice. I will be very appreciate that.

Look at school districts like Niskayuna, Guliderland, North Colonie(Shaker High School), Bethlehem, South Colonie(Colonie High School), Shenendehowa, East Greenbush(Columbia High School), Burnt Hills, Scotia and Voorheesville, among others in the area.

If the house is zoned for a particular school district, that's where your child has to go - in this state. I don't know of any other way for your child to attend a different district. We decided on the school district first, and then started looking for homes in the district.

You dont want your Child in the Albany City Schools. That would be a tragedy.

I agree with Roland's point. Also be very careful, because you get locked into a school or have to go private.

Make sure to call the Guilderland school district to find out if the house you are looking to buy is zoned for Guilderland schools.
