Default hoosick falls??!

Hoosick falls , and glen falls, I came across both of these towns through a real estate book on my trip upstate. Hoosick falls seemed pretty nice, but I am not familiar with upstate ny at all. Does anyone know if this is a decent area, and is it growing? I checked the statistics out but I'd like to hear from someone who actually lives there or has any knowledge of the town. Thanks

Default My thoughts

I dont live in these areas but close. I know alot about both and in fact, am looking, myself, into moving possibly to one of those two areas. Hoosick Falls is very quaint, affordable and close to the beauty of vermont but that part of New York doesnt take much of a back seat to VT. Hoosick Falls, though, has these little spurts of crime that pops up once & awhile that shouldnt be a problem but annoying to an otherwise good reputation. It is affordable but there is some problems that come along with a small rural village always on the edge of poverty. Being close to Cambridge & Bennington, VT make it a nice area to settle. If you have the money to get some property and not be dependent on the community for your entire livlihood, you should be ok. Schools are not the best if you have children but there are some private schools that are wonderful close by.

Glens Falls is really an up & coming area of Upstate. Its growing like a weed but so far retains a small town charm. Mostly closes up at night. Which is fine by me. Downtown is very very nice. Schools are good. A very safe area to raise a family. Glens Falls depends heavily on tourism but proves to hold its own all year round. Alot of shopping in the area. I personally believe from observation that Glens Falls will almost double in size within 10 years causing a sprawl problem. Its already happening in the surrounding areas. Hudson Falls is a little more quiet and a bit less expensive and may be worth looking into. Not sure what your looking for but if you have specific questions I may be able to help better.

Default Hoosick Falls

My father was just a boy when his family took him up to Hoosick Falls on vacation, that was in the early 40's......than when he married and had me, off to Hoosick Falls we'd go every summer, a small town, with nice people,
I remember Babock Lake staying at the lodge, there was bar there and my folks became friends with the owners, later the lodge burned to the ground, but the bar was still there, I can remember being a teen dancing to Patsy Clines I Fall to Pieces. I've never forgotten my visits to Hoosick Falls, just a short distance from Bennington, Vt. and the famous monument.

I had two friends that lived in Hoosick Falls, I believe that the family still lives there, they owned a well drilling company and had a son. The other was a girl that worked at a motel outside of town.

Hoosick Falls is country......a step back in time........a great place to visit
remember Grandma Moses lived there......as well as my greatgrandma Barbetta.

I have lived in HF all my life. actually if you want to be exact the farm country of HF. It is a town where everyone knows of each other even if it by name only. we look after each other and are all concerned about each other. To say it is "old style" is not really true. We are though, the type of town to live in if you want to grow a family in a town where we do look after each other and kids are very important. Our new minister came into town and after only after a few weeks she could go in to the local diner and have her coffee set out for her. Can you have that in a big city?

Default Hoosick Falls

If you've lived in Hoosick Falls then you must know Roger White, his dad owned a well drilling company, Roger and this NYC girl went out when I summered up there, we lost touch when he went into the Navy. Nice boy and nice family.
