Default Saratoga Springs to Albany

I really love this region of NY. I spent some time in Saratoga and Caroga Lake in the summers. I'm 41 and recently divorced living in CT. I'm been living in CT for too long and want to move to the Albany, NY area or Portland, ME. I know about winters, CT isn't exactly Florida.

How is the job market in the Albany area? I'm in IT and IT Project Management. How long is the commute from SS to Albany? How about rentals in SS, Ballston Spa, Ballston, Milton, Malta, Mechanicsville, etc... How is Schenectady? I would like to have a gym nearby, especially for the winter months.

I am most focused on the Saratoga Springs area to start with. I can rent and decide where to live later. Any areas to avoid, any nice rentals, things to do. Plus it's nice to see some Mets fans around

Let's Go Mets!

Albany to Saratoga Springs is really only about 25 miles...however, the traffic on the Northway and I-90 can turn that trip into almost one hour!

Schenectady is bad...stay away!

I would consider south of Albany...Delmar or Selkirk, for a better commute to Albany.

Thanks I did find another thread that would answer some more of my questions. "Best Place to Live in and Around the Capital Region".

Feel like I should make the move while I can.

There are roads other than the Northway you can take from Saratoga to Albany.
