Default Wilton New York area?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the town of Wilton outside of Saratoga Springs? I know there is a prison which is a little disconcerting. I'm looking for a safe, family-friendly place with good schools but one that is a little less expensive than Saratoga itself.

Any other areas in or around Saratoga (within a 15 or 20 mile radius) that one could reccomend? Any places I should definitely avoid?

Thanks!

Wilton is a great family friendly safe area. Don't worry about the prison it is a min/med security facility that never really has any problems. Look at Gansevoort and South Glens Falls both good areas and very good school districts. Ballston Spa and Milton are also good places to look into. Stay away from Albany, Troy and Schenectady not the best choices. Feel free to PM with any specific questions.

thanks everybody! Are there any areas where you would definitely not send your kids to schools or choos to live? (I mean within the Saratoga/Wilton/Schulerville, etc. community. I'm not looking at Albany or anything too far outside of Saratoga.) Just trying to get an idea of affordable areas yet still very safe and with good schools.
