Places to rent in Albany? (Colonie, Schenectady: apartments, school, area)

My husband is considering an 18 month job in Albany. He would like to rent an apartment, but I am having a hard time locating apartments. I checked on some of the apartment websites, but only found about 2.
Can anyone give me advice on where/city/county he should look in that would be decent and also where to look!

I would give you a web address but it will most likely be deleted, so, do a "G" search for "Albany Apartments". I just did it and a website that you can browse by City/Town for apt. complexes throughout the Albany area was the second "non-sponsored" result. (Renters Guide...)

If you have school age children you probably want to avoid the City of Albany/Troy/Schenectady listings (typical inner city school violence issues). Good locations:

Clifton Park
Colonie
Delmar
East Greenbush
Guilderland
Latham
Menands
Niskayuna
Slingerlands
