Default Loft styple apt's in Albany area?

I'll be moving to the Albany area to work for GE in June of 2008 and would like to live in a loft-style apartment. My girlfriend is an interior designer and she hates the standard apartment style. I've found the Harmony Mills Lofts but cant seem to find anything else like it. Anyone know of loft-style or other unique apartment styles in the area? Thanks

Wink New Loftsin Albany

You are in luck. There will be new lofts built and over-looking the Hudson river very shortly in downtown Albany and at a very reasonable price, $179,000. Once they start flying, the price will sky-rocket. Moderator cut: realtor soliciting

Default Loft Apartments

I haven't seen inside the apartments but there is an old brewery, Hinckel Brewery, in Albany that was converted into loft apartments. Hinckel Brewery Apartments

Good Luck!

Default Lofts around Albany

The Harmony Mills Lofts are located in a perfect spot, not too much traffic, parking is easy, great access to highways. There are also some lofts along the Hudson in Troy an up and coming area, very close access to highways to get you to and from Albany (5 minutes) or Schenectady (maybe 20 minutes) not sure how parking is - it's downtown so to me if you have to park outside, it's no fun coming home in the dark.

The Harmony Mills lofts are in Cohoes which is about 15 minutes north of Albany (without traffic). It's a wild old building, formerly a paper mill. Right next to the Mohawk river. Downside is that there is practically nothing in Cohoes, that I know of at least.

The Hinckel Brewery lofts are in Albany in the Mansion Neighborhood, right on Lincoln Park - pretty close to Lark Street and Downtown. Pretty nice neighborhood, don't let the South End scare you off.

So, the ones in Troy -- that's not a good neighborhood (at least at night)? Is it changing? Are there other things going on there? Thank you.

15 minutes north of Albany -- would you know what exit on the Northway? I would think this is getting pretty close to Saratoga Springs. Thanks.

It's at the north end of 787, you just keep going until it turns into N. Mohawk Street...off the Northway, I guess you'd take exit 7 to 9R/470. It's still about 40 minutes to Saratoga Springs from Cohoes.

I've been inside of Harmony Mills. They are very nice...a little pricey by Albany standards though. The apt. I was in had very high ceilings, large windows(overlooking the Mohawk River) "rustic" looking old wood floors and a modern kitchen. As someone stated, there's not much going on in Cohoes but it's a quick ride down 787 to Troy and Albany. They're worth a look for you I think.
