Default Relocating to Albany, NY area

We are looking for the quintessential "New England" like village within a 30 mile radius of Albany, NY. Must be within NYS. Have one school age child, will be entering 8th grade, need a good school district. Open to suggestions.

Take a look at Saratoga Springs, Ballston Spa area, you may find just what you're looking for.

Waterford is nice, a little closer to Albany and maybe cheaper than the above two ....which are also nice. I would second Ballston Spa.

Thank you to both suggestions. We knew about Saratoga, but don't think we can afford the area. My initial research on Ballston Spa is very interesting, and will keep Waterford in mind.

Voorheesville and Altamont are also cute towns with good schools.

Kinderhook is a very picturesque town, and the school system is very good.
