Is Glens Falls a nice area to reside in? How is the downtown area? What is a nice area that's reasonably close to necessities such as banks, grocery shopping, doctors etc? How are the winters?Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have heard that there was a recent earthquake not too long ago , is this a serious concern for people who live there? Thanks so much in advance

Glens Falls has most of what you want close by. I wouldn't worry about the earthquake, but I am from California and a 3.3 is no more than a hiccup. Winters are what you might expect for upstate NY. Cold and snow.

Glens Falls is a nice city, and Queensbury, which surrounds it to the north and west, is a nice town and good place to live, IMO. The downtown in GF has been improving greatly. I think its the most improved town in NYS. There is a paper mill right on the Hudson, and while there can be a slight odor from it occasionally, it rarely impacts anywhere except the immediate vicinity and employs a lot of people there. So, I'd personally look to live a few blocks north of this.

Winters are harsh, cold, and cloudy. Not as cloudy as central or western NY, but cloudier than LI. I don't think they're all that bad, but some years can be. I wouldn't worry about earthquakes there. There's a fault line in the far northern part of the state, but to my knowledge, it has never been strong enough to destroy things. Upstate is one of the safer areas from natural disasters. Flooding can be more of an issue than earthquakes, tornados, or hurricanes.
