Default Single Woman Moving to Capitol area

I'm considering taking a job in the Capitol area of Upstate NY, but I'm not sure if it will be the right place for me. I'm a single, 30-year-old woman. I'm currently living in Minneapolis, where it seems as though everyone else my age is already married with 4 kids. What are the demographics like in the Capitol area? Will I have a hard time making friends (female and male) to hang out with, go to the movies with, have coffee with? How hard will it be to meet people and make friends?
