Default Help re: Albany area

Hi guys. First post. My fam and I are thinking of moving out of South Florida. We're researching the Albany area (surrounding counties, etc.). Can anyone recommend the good school districts/neighborhoods/counties?? I think I've read that some of the upstate NY public schools rank highly nationwide. Can anyone tell me where those schools are located and where on the web I might find that information myself? Thank you so much.

Two of the better suburban school districts are Bethlehem central and Niskayuna central schools. Bethlehem borders Albany and Niskayuna borders Schenectady. Check out www.schoolmatters.com.

This site here will not us to send links, but google New York sate school report card. Find the official NYS dept of education site. This is a state site that has a breakdown on every aspect of your school including all academic achievement, economic status of the area(gives % of students who get free lunch), racial breakdown, student population and so on. Look closely at regents. They are state tests that are given, since they are state regulated it is hard for a district to fudge those #s. I like to see districts that have at least 80% of the senoirs graduating with regents diploma. Good luck, incidentally Saratoga springs is just north of albany and it is very pretty but touristy.

Do not forget the Saratoga Springs area. 20 miles north of Albany and just south of heaven. Absolutely smashing thoroughbred meet during the summer and if you learn the game properly you can supplement your income handicapping the ponies. Best game/sport to follow in the world.
