This may sound trivia but I am curious if there are microclimates in the Albany area where you may get more snow on the north side suburbs, or more wind etc? Are there temperature variations north to south or west to east? For example living in the CA Bay area you can change 30 degrees sometime from 20 miles difference. I know this is an extreme, but do any of these types of weather differences exist or is it pretty consistent across the entire area?

Supposedly, some of the "hill towns" south and west of Albany (Rensselaerville or even Summit, for example) can sometimes get quite a bit more snow than Albany itself.
