Ok, maybe it's that I've lived in the capitol region in a townhouse since Feb 2008 and NO ONE in my neighboorhood has initiated even so much as a "hello" . I say "hi" and try to make eye contact when I'm out walking my dog but ...no go.....

My wife got that impression but I haven't. She works in a big office building though. I find people to be just as friendly here as anywhere else, especially neighbors in the small town I live in. When I tell people I moved here from out west, they take a great interest in you. Like either you are completely crazy or you are exotic.
