Smile Mom of Albany grad student interested in your insight!

We just returned from a productive weekend finding DD a very nice apartment in Albany. She'll be set to go to grad school near the Albany Medical Center. By the way, if anyone needs a nice hotel during an Albany stay, I can highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn across from the Medical center.

Anyway, we learned alot during our two days there. I must say that I found Albany to be a pleasant surprise, I really knew nothing about it. Washington Park is gorgeous, the people were very friendly, and we ate in two wonderful restaurants on cute & funky Lark Street.

We learned to stay away from Arbor Hill, too bad a lovely name like that is actually a rough neighborhood. We were told where the 'good' Price Choppers are, and the one to stay away from. Found out where the nearest mall is, as well as what a convenient bus line Albany seems to have.

What else can you share with a grad-school student's Mom to help make her DD's time in Albany happy, safe and enjoyable?
My sincere thanks to you!
