Default Altamont

What is the village of Altamont like? Seems to have good home values and beautiful older homes.

I couldn't really get into the nitty gritty regarding home values, etc., but I have quite a few friends in Altamont and used to go to high school nearby in Guilderland Center, so I know a little bit about the community.

The village is very tight-knit and intimate - people tend to all know each other and get involved in local affairs and events - the Altamont Enterprise, written by residents, has been printed for a while in the village and perennially ranks among the top independent weeklies in the state.

There are some decent events throughout the year at the Altamont Fairgrounds. A few local businesses thrive along Main Street in the village but I've found Altamont to be first and foremost a residential community, as most residents tend to go into Guilderland or Albany for shopping and entertainment.

Beautiful country is just miles away. Thatcher State Park is a quick drive up the hill behind the village and offers some spectacular views of the entire region.
