Default Where to live near the Rensselaer area??

I am looking at a business this weekend that I may be purchasing in Rensselaer. I have 2 children that stay with me part time (they are 10 and 12) My son who is 10 may live with me full time. What areas are nice to live in and have good school districts. I would also need to rent a home or apartment for the first year so any suggestions??. I am not familiar with the area at all. I am coming from Elmira NY so I know the weather just not the area.
Thanks!

Default I really like the Averill Park area

The school district is great, there is a lot of natural beauty and things for kids to do, it's still pretty rural but only 15 minutes or so from Rensselaer. I have a 10 year old daughter and she rides horses and used to do Girl Scouts. We like to go fishing and we swim in one of the local lakes. With the current real estate market more and more houses are going up for rent as well.

I think the East Greenbush area(Columbia SD) is good too. Actually, some of the area has Rensselaer for a mailing address too.

Also, I suggest North Greenbush or East Greenbush area. We lived there for more than 30 years before moving to North Carolina. Good housing chooses and excellent school district. Your family will enjoy living across the bridge from Albany; not far from entertainment and shopping areas.
