Moving to Saratoga Springs
Hi - I am moving to Saratoga Springs from Long Island. I need to live in Saratoga Springs. Is it realistic to find a house for about $150,000? We just need a 2 bedroom near a good elementary school for my son.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I don't think $150K is realistic for a 2 BR in a good school district anywhere in the Capital District...least of all Saratoga Springs. You're probably looking at 2x that (to live in say, Malta)

You might be able to find a fixer uper for 150k in Saratoga Springs, especially a 2 bedroom home. There are 3 bd homes for that price in nearby Ballston Spa.
Contact a realtor in the area.

150k? Saratoga Springs? No way- you can't get a 2 Bd condo in Saratoga for less than 300k.
As previous poster suggests you may be able to get a tiny little fixer-upper in one of the suburbs around Saratoga for 150- not sure about the schools though.

Saratoga County Homes for Sale. Real Estate in Saratoga County, New York
I suggest you look into surrounding areas (Glen Falls, Queensbury, etc.) There are bargains on the outskirts of Saratoga Springs (Northunderland, Wilton) and the Schuylerville school district is very good but in Saratoga Country. New homes can be found that start at $250K (Brampton Woods).

I can tell you for a fact you can get homes for as low as 160,000 in Ballston Spa.... I live right next to a nice one that is going on the market this spring. I recommend Calling Mark at Elliot Property Services, he sold us our house last year for $175,000. He has the inside skinny on the entire town. There are houses in your price range in the area just not in Saratoga Springs (unless you want a rehab project).

What about Glens Falls, Schuylerville, South Glens Falls, West Glens Falls(Queensbury SD) and maybe the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake area?

You might also check out up 9N in Greenfield Greenfield Center and Corinth. Greenfield might be a little pricy but you could probably find a good deal in Corinth or even a little further in Lake Luzerne. Good luck. Regards Scott
