Coming to Albany and looking for Help?
Hi,
I will be coming to the Albany area later this month to start a new job at Albany Medical Center. My plan is to come to the city, start working for a few weeks, while looking for a place to move my family. I am looking to find a place to stay short-term: rooms, small apts., motel with weekly rates, etc., preferably near the hospital. I just graduated from college this May and have been out of work so my income is very limited until I begin work (probably a few hundred dollars). i.e. I need something cheap. I will be able to afford more 2/6 when I get my first check. If anybody can help or knows of someone who could help me just for a month or so it would be greatly appreciated
PS I am by no means looking for a free ride. I am very professional and clean.
Thanks,
Patrick

Human resource directed me to try local hotels/motels, they made no mention of apartments owned by the facility. Thanks for the info, however, I will give them a ring and ask about it.

Seriously, be careful of hotels! Don't go with cheap. There's a reason it's a cheap hotel. Go with a chain name - one that you've heard of. Yes, they cost more, but they don't rent rooms by the hour or have critters hitch a ride home with you.
For apartments, check timesunion.com. That's our newspaper and there's apartment listings available to check out online.

Are there any decent hotel/motels nearby AMC that offer relatively inexpensive weekly rates.

How much are you able to afford a week?

Maybe $100-150, at least until I get paid then I could afford something nicer.

I don't know where you could get something for that amount in the area.

I found some rooms in Cohoes. They are asking $85 a week. Is there bus transportation from Cohoes to AMC? If so does anyone know what the typical hours are that the buses run?
