Default Any tech jobs in the capital district?

Hello,

The Albany-Troy area is on my list of possible places to relocate to, but I was wondering about the availability of jobs in my field of work.

Id specifically be looking for work in the technology field (PC tech, helpdesk, IT, etc.)

Thanks for the help!

Pretty much that and medical are the only jobs around this area. Especially if they get the ADM factory finalized in Malta. (just north of albany). RPI, SUNY-Albany, the College of Nanotechnology, Map Info/Pitney Bowes, Plug Power, GE, are some of the bigger highers in the field. Would go to their websites directly. Some smaller companies too like Autotask. Check the Times Union online- they just had "Capital District Best Places to Work" special edition out- sure it must be on the sight. Might find some places of interest in there.

Google "Alain Kaloyeros". That guy has managed to put Albany on the nano-map in short order.
He came here with a lot of moxie & even a lot more smarts. He's cocky as all get-out; drives 5 different high-end sports cars,
& has a trophy wife dripping in diamonds. None of that (really! ) impresses me; I mention it because
he obviously could have gone anywhere he wanted to start his venture.

But he picked Albany. There is a lot of state money backing him in spite of the economy.
Don't know how far into the tech world you are, but Kaloyeros is a guy you want to get to know.
He's going places & hopefully NYS will hitch a ride on his coattails.

There is a micro chip plant that is being built in Malta which is near Albany. You might want to look at recent issues of The Saratogian - this is online - to find out more.

And get into what? It seems as though most careers are under pressure now. I do agree that IT is probably not the best field though.
