Moving to Saratoga Springs.. schools?
I will be moving to Saratoga Springs in the spring to start a new job there. I have been looking on the internet at homes.. has anyone had experience with the elementary, middle and high schools in that area? Are the schools in Saratoga Springs OK? ( I 've looked at the data but would love to hear from someone whose has actual experience). Are there areas nearby that anyone would recommend?
Thanks as always!

I know you will be working in Saratoga Springs, but if you don't mind commuting, Clifton Park is nice - the Shenandahowa School district is good!

I highly recommend the Schuylerville SD.
District Information - Schuylerville Schools
Also you might look into Brampton Woods when you are looking at homes. Mike Waldron builds a energy-efficient, meticulous home.
You can PM me if I can help.

My kids are at Shen. I think it's fine, but it's a huge district. They take kids from Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Waterford, Ballston Lake and Rexford. There is only 1 high school, so there's less opportunity for kids to get involved in student government and varsity sports. The ones who make it are really good though. If I had a choice, I would prefer Burnt Hills/Ballston Lake. Good schools and smaller district.
If you live at exit 11, it'll probably be only about a 10-15 minute drive to Saratoga Springs(exit 13N to 15). The elementary school would be Chango(Shen) which is at exit 11, while the main Shen campus is off exit 9. So Middle and High school would be at the main campus.
I like Shen, but my friend has kids in Saratoga Springs schools and she likes it there. No major complaints. They have full day kindergarten. Shen only has 1/2 day Kindergarten.

What about Ballston Spa, Glens Falls or South Glens Falls?

Saratoga Springs has a couple reputable private schools in the area. Are you looking for public only?

Sally, Dahl is right, the Saratoga Springs area has many private and public schools. I can send you a recent school report or get you in touch with parents. Public/Private? Elementary/Middle/High? Are you looking only in Saratoga Springs or are you also interested in surrounding areas? Moderator cut: realtor soliciting

I am looking for a public elementary - the smaller the better. I called the Saratoga registrar and looked online. One elementary in quite large - Nolan. The others are small - e.g. Caroline, Division Street.
Does anyone have any personal experience with any of the elementary schools in Saratoga Springs?
Thanks!!

I have a child in elementary school, one in middle school, and one in high school in Saratoga Springs. I love the schools. We moved here from a New England state. Saratoga Springs is the best kept secret! I would never want to leave..it's a fantastic place to live and raise a family. Good schools, tons of culture, great sports. The school system is very large. 500+ kids to a high school class. It's hard to be a "superstar" with those numbers if that's what you're worried about. The elementary school is wonderful and my child is excelling.
