Question Jefferson Heights info about NYC COW PLEASE!

Hi my name is Brian and went to a junk shop and got this funky NYC COW. It is 16 inches long and 15 1/2 inches high. It is an exact smaller copy of the life size cow that is or was in Jefferson Heights in 2007. The reason I know this is because I found a pic. on the net. But it didn't say anything about the cow. Is it and advertisment for NY. Is it privately owned and if so by who? Is it a one of a kind thing ? Is there any info on the artist who created it? Please guys, ANY INFO. at all would be greatly appreciated, sincerely, Brian

This is the life size cow in the Jefferson Heights NY area that I'm inquiring about. And the second one is the 16 inch replica I bought in a junk shop

That looks like it's part of the Cow Parade public art project. It was featured in NYC in 2000. There is a guide book that was out at the time that featured most of the cows. I am not sure if yours would be listed on the site, but it certainly looks as though it was part of the project. They did have replicas available, and still do online. However, I didn't notice that one, though there are some gaps in the NYC cows, where they do not have any photographs. Perhaps you could get some information from the new site where the cow resides as to its name/origin, or perhaps Cow Parade could give you some information.

I contacted Cow Parade Headquarters in West Hartford and they said it is not connected with Cow Parade. I would really like to know who has this full size one in Jefferson Heights. Anyone?????

For some reason the pic. of the full size cow in Jefferson Heights didn't come up so if you google
NYC Cow on Flickr - Photo Sharing! it will be one of the first sites to appear in the list. But as I look at this now, I think if you just click on it, it may show the pic.

It's not at an antique shop. I called a library local to Jefferson Heights and the librarian said the cow is located a few miles away from Jefferson Heights at an Icecream place called Cone-e Island. The owner of the shop goes to the library and she said she will try to get me his e-mail add.

ahhh...yes...that's downtown Catskill, not Jefferson Heights. Cone-e Island is right across from the Catskill High School (and is closed for the winter season).
