Default Howe Cavern

My DH and I are planning an overnight trip to Howe Caverns.
Is their any other things to do or see in the area that we should hit?
We will be going in the winter so outdoor recreation is OUT.
Also, Should we stay in Albany and drive the 45 min to get to the caves??
I would like to avoid staying in a motel as i am more used to Sheraton or similar level hotel.

Any advice? Thanks!!!

I have been to Howe cavern as a child but dont remember tons other than having a lot of fun.

colbean8 is on a distinguished road
There is quite a bit to do in the area. One check through the Schoharie County website brought up several things I think you will like.

Iroquois Indian Museum

Railroads Museum

The Old Stone Fort Museum, a Revolutionary War battle site

and here's a general one to start with if you like: Where to Play in Schoharie County - Schoharie, New York

This hotel seems like it would be nice, and not so far away from where you want to be: Holiday Inn Express Hotel - Motel - Schoharie - Cobleskill - Albany and Schenectady NY

Good luck and have a great time. I have been to the Indian Museum and I love it.
