Default Children's birthday party ideas?

I was looking for a low key establishment for a preschool birthday party. I was thinking along the lines of a My Gym but even that is not what I'm looking for....I guess I want something that is imaginative, fairy tale-ish (good for boys or girls), simple/subdued colors, and not overly pricey. If you have any recommendations as far south as Albany, as far north as Clifton Park.

I would definitely be interested in a party on a farm with a petting zoo and the ability to take a ride on a horse. It would be for the last weekend in March (is that a bad idea for a semi outdoor party??)

Thanks for reading.

Would you consider having it at home? You can call Ponies for Hire and they'll come to your house with a pony or two. They'll also bring some farm animals, depending on what they have this season. Usually bunnies, baby goats, sheep and chicks. I had this for my son's 4yo birthday and the kids really enjoyed it.

I don't know if they're still open, but you can try Indian Ladder Farms. They do a nice job also.

I have considered the pony for hire party but I am a renter and my landlord won't be ok with the liability of kids and ponies on his property. I did call Indian Ladder Farms, but parties don't start until April I think with them. I looked at the museum and I like it but maybe for a little bit older.

So, what we decided to go with is a home party. I hired the woman who offers a local Waldorf homeschooling group that I bring my son to as she does parties. I'm really excited - it's next weekend. Thank you both for your ideas.

Stomping Ground? Loved that place when I was a kid. Dunno if it's still open tho. I *think* it's in New Scotland.
