JahMa is on a distinguished road
Default TOP RATED DIVERSIFED NEIGHBORHOOD FOR 1st GRADER

Just wanted some opinions of the Albany County locals, preferably parents of elementary school aged-kids....I am relocating in the end of the summer & have been doing some apartment searching...I've visited a couple complexes & driven around some neighborhoods. In my research, it seems that Guilderland is top choice. Menands has some affordable complexes, the school is supposed to be good, but I heard that the area is not so good, that it gets the "riff-raff" of Albany & Troy. But that was one of my top choices. I've also heard Colonie is supposed to be one of the "safest" towns but is on a very slow decline. I also have been out in Niskayuna which is quaint but a drive to Albany & in bad weather, I would hate to drive that distance to get to school, work, & such. Does anyone have any other recommendations on a neighborhood with an afforfable safe apartment complex including heat & hot water, with great elementary schools, & racial diversity (important) in Albany County. Thanks. P.S. I've been using apartment finder and the renters guide. I've been on greatschools & etc....feel free to give me any other links.

I would go with the South Colonie or the North Colonie areas. They are suburban schools that are probably the most diverse of the suburban districts in the Capital District. Guilderland has some too, but not like those two. Here's some information you would like:Renters Guide - Albany Apartments in New York and Albany, NY Apartment Complexes
