Default Fire Fighter positions
How are the jobs for firemen and fire prevention in NY? Are they all volunteer or are they paid positions? What's the pay like?

We have both Professional (paid) Civil Service positions and Volunteer. The smaller towns and villages usually only have volunteer and the bigger Cities and Towns have regular County employees who are full-time Fire-fighters.

Check the area's government website to see if they have a test for the Firefighter job or if it is volunteer.
