Looking for a home in Loudonville
I am considering a job relocation to Albany.
What do you think of Loudonville? Is there a town/village main street type area? How about the infrastructure (e.g., restaurants, shopping, vets, entertainment-parks, etc.)? Any advice on locations on the different areas within Loudonville, what to look for, etc. would be really helpful. Anybody's personal experience in living in Loudonville?

You might like Latham too. It's in the same area and school district(North Colonie). Colonie(South Colonie schools), would be a another community to consider. Bethlehem would be good as well.

My aunt has lived in Loudonville for as long as I can remember and it seems like a nice little place. I don't really know much about it other than what I've seen, but there are a lot of nice little quiet neighborhoods and it seems like a nice place.
As ckhthankgod said, you might check out Latham as well. I had a friend who lived in Latham for a while and there were a lot of nice neighborhoods there too. Colonie doesn't seem bad either, but it seems like it's become very "built up" with businesses over the years (I suppose Latham has too), but Wolf Road in Colonie is a pretty cool and has a lot of fun places to visit and good places to eat (even though the big Borders Books is gone, but there's one at the mall now).

Loudonville is probably the most upscale suburb of Albany, and it is largely residential. Most businesses there focus in real estate. There are a couple of gas stations, and a small plaza, but other than that there isn't much commercial wise. Fortunately, it's a couple of minutes away from Latham, which has more restuarants and shopping, and Colonie, which has a street full of restaurants, shopping, and a large mall. There is an upscale country club open to select members, but there is another country a few minutes away that anyone can join, and the colonie town pool is a short drive away. There is a great new walking park and recreational center, which are hugely popular. One con is there are no sidewalks. A pro is that you feel as though your living in the country when your only a couple of streets away from a main road- most houses have more land than those in Latham & Colonie.

I grew up in Latham about 5 minutes from Loudonville. Loudonville is a very upscale suburb in the Albany/Guilderland area. There really isn't a town center and it's not a walkable area, but there are gorgeous homes and beautiful streets. It's a great location about 10-15 min from downtown Albany and very close to the commercial areas in Latham (Rt. 9), Colonie (Wolf Rd) and Albany (Crossgates Mall area). Honestly, you are no more than 15 min away from any major restaurant, store, mall, movie theater, hospital etc. It's a very central location. If you can afford it and it's convenient for work, it would be my first choice of areas to live in. If it's too pricey, areas of nearby Latham are quite nice as well and tend to be a bit cheaper. If you have any other specific questions, I can try to answer them for you.
