Default Pleasant View Lodge in the Catskills

Does anyone know what happened to the lodges/resorts in the Catskills? I only remember Pleasant View and Sunny Hill, but there were 3 others. PV was located in the Gayhead section of Freehold. I guess it closed down and that's really sad. They had so much to do, it kept me busier than a cruise does.

Hi There
I lived down there for a number of years. I know what you mean about closing the resorts. I can tell you why they closed them. Not as many people were coming up to visit anymore. Many of the older 65 and above had gotten sick or pasted on did not come up for obvious reasons. The yonger - family crowds were coming up for visits, then the economy started to go down hill. That forced the resorts to close. I lived two twons from Freehold. Not only did the economy effect the closing of the resorts but the downfall of the towns themselves. It caused the closing of many of our local stores because the visitors couldnot come up. It is a sad situation for all.

I hope you can find a place to spend your time just as fun.

The best of luck to you.

Thanks! Actually my parents stopped by there 4 or 5 years ago and there was a Russian woman in the office, with a lot of Russian signs around. So maybe it's being used for something different now. I also found out the previous owner of P.V. died not long ago.
