I think the tourists/residents comment comes from the fact that during the school year, the Skiddies are a large part of the population. If Skidmore is still a dry campus like back in my day, the students pour into town Tuesday-Sunday, and of course they shop and eat and nurse their hangovers during the day . When school is out, the track and the summer activies (SPAC) and visitors increase the population. While Skidmore and the summer season are GREAT for the town, local residents can sometimes feel outnumbered.

I have not been in SS for 16 years or so, so I am sure things have changed, but I am also sure they are the same. Skidmore is very vocal about its students respecting the residents, at least they were when I was there, and even the students living off-campus amoung th3e residents were kept in line by the school.

Saratoga is a great town, in a great area. I think newcomers would have a fairly easy time as the town is somewhat used to new people every year

Good luck and enjoy

Default Saratoga

We bought a house in Schuylerville, which has an excellent school system. Another town in Saratoga, is Northunderland. The builder who built our house did a phenomenal job, very meticulous and energy efficient. He currently has a beautiful development with all the trees left in place. If you're interest send me an email and I'll give you the information.

Leslieshomes is on a distinguished road
I moved here 3 years ago from the middle of Michigan and love it! It is warmer in daytime and colder at night, but basically the same average temp. Seems sunnier!
We live in the area that doesn’t get dumped on by the snow storms but minutes from those areas that do, which is great if you love to ski like I do, Gore Mtn. is only 45 minutes away! If you live in the Mid west currently you will find living in NY pricey, if you live east of NY currently you will find Saratoga much more affordable. Having the track here makes it a great place to live and vacation, all my friends come up to play, eat and party! Best restaurants around and having the SPAC to go to and lay on the lawn with kids or friends while listening to the symphony and eating chocolate with my wine is not overrated!
Great down-to-earth, active people, Great non chain restaurants, Great free and affordable entertainment, 15 minutes to Lake George and Lake Saratoga where I sail and kayak all summer long... 2.5 hours from NYC, Boston and Montreal…makes for a fabulous location!
Houses under 200,000 are hard to find in Saratoga unless you want a fixer upper, but they can be found in the surrounding areas. Good luck looking for your future home, you couldn’t pick a better place to live.
