Wilton, NY (Albany, Saratoga Springs, Queensbury: crime, new house, schools)

Anybody have info on Wilton? My wife and I are seriously considering a move to the Saratoga area and many people have suggested this town. How are the schools, crime rate, etc. I understand the taxes are quite high so that maybe a deterrant. Ideally, we would like to live in a rural area within a half hour of Saratoga Springs...any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Wilton's not so rural anymore... it's growing like mad.

Cambridge and Schuylerville are just a bit east of there, and still rural and attractive. At least one if not both are Washington County.

Wilton is very nice, but the rural part is pretty much out the window. Same thing with Gansevoort and Queensbury. The entire area between Albany and Glens Falls is filling in rapidly. Halfmoon alone has something like 500 new houses in front of the Planning Board right now.

With an elderly woman would be ok and I am handy and would take care of the outside as the grounds and willing to do painting or some handyman repairs. I do drive and have a car so I would be able to take the person shopping if need be. I am a Handy lady that was a single parent but after raising my 4 kids I WANT TO RETURN to the mountains I use to live in Glens Falls before I moved to Florida and there 20 yrs now in the same house.
I do not have alot of money but willing to pay something and to help ouit alot,, I am just looking for something for Aug Sept and Oct.2007
The areas could be Glens Falls, So. Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Wilton and surrounding area. Next year would be June to Sept.2008
