We will be relocating to Albuquerque in August from Farmington. After living in San Antonio for 18 years we found Farmington to be a bit small for us. We are wanting to rent a home right now in the range of about 900-1100. We don't mind commuting to work since we did it for a long time in SA with a lot more traffic than we've seen in ABQ during rush hour. What are good areas of town for two women, a dog and cat?

We don't know where (or if) you're working. That's always essential to give good advice.

You list a rent budget, want a house, and you ask for good areas of town. While these three might not be mutually exclusive, they very well might be. May want to prioritize.

We are working (social worker and teacher). Location doesn't matter in reference to our employment as we were used to commuting 90 minutes (one way) every day while in San Antonio. We'd prefer a house with a yard for our Schnauzer.

It depends on what you like in a neighborhood. Have you been to ABQ to check things out? I have a couple of women friends with a Schnauzer who live near Hyder Park. You'll find women with Schnauzers in every part of town.

Wink renting in Albuquerque

You won't have any trouble finding a place in your range. Stay away from the South Valley and well off of the Central Avenue corridor. Take a look out at Rio Rancho -- many parts of it are decent and have very big yards.

I have 3 rentals in Albuquerque, but mine are all rented. Any of mine would be safe for 2 women and all are equal to or less than you mentioned in price range. You'll just need to look around and see what neighborhoods you feel suit you.

There are some great dog parks. I personally live very close to the one on Unser and Montano. I think that is a great, safe area to live. I do not know the price for rentals in that area. It may be worth checking into.

Very nice park, we have used it over the years since they opened it. Called "Santa Fe Park". Nice area.
