Default Would love to move to Albuquerque are there any "health issues" that I should know of due to high elevation?

I wanted to know if there are any health issues that I should know of that can come from living in a higher elevation before making a final decision to move there.I have been told that people with heart conditions that the elevation can worsen it.

Maybe some minor issues, but none permanent that I'm aware of! Good luck with your move.

I don't think that is true, it is often harder to breath in higher altitudes, but that doesn't mean it will hurt your heart. Most people adjust immediately but there are those, like me, who do not. The doctor told me, when were still there, I was one of those who would probably never adjust and there was no physical reason for this. The one thing you will notice in NM, more people are on oxygen.

Also check out this thread - http://www.city-data.com/forum/albuq...elevation.html.

As someone with heart issues I've had no problems since moving here 8 months ago.

zannia, this subject has been discussed several times and two good threads have been pointed out. So this thread is closed and you can continue the discussion in one or both of those threads.

Our elevation here in the city of Albuquerque area is about 5,000 feet. Sandia Mountain goes up to about 10,000 feet.

If you have a heart condition, then your best place of advice would be your doctor.
