Do any of you have any recommendations for a farmer's market that you like? During what months are they open?
Or, do any of you belong to a CSA and receive produce that way? We'd like to try and make use of locally-supported and/or organic farming, if possible... how prevalent are these practices in/around ABQ?
There are several farmers'/growers' markets around town, including downtown, Nob Hill, Corrales, and the Fairgrounds. Here's a link to the New Mexico Farmers' Markets homepage.
Check out Los Poblanos Organics, they're the only community farm I know of that offers a produce subscription program, you can either pick it up at their store on Carlisle and Indian School, or use their delivery service. I haven't used it (I find it expensive and it doesn't really suit my needs) but I do know people who like it.
The only farmer's market we normally use are the Bernalillo Farmers' Market, Corrales Growers' Market and Rio Rancho Growers' Market. Their hours of operation, dates etc and other markets are listed on this page. I would start with the ones closest to you: New Mexico Farmers' Market Locations

We go to the Corrales growers market to buy our salad greens and red chile raspberry jam. They sell great breakfast burritos and have good entertainment there too.
I know about a Farmer's market on Eubank and Comanche, though unfortunately I've never been there so I don't know exactly what they sell there. You might want to check it out though.
I know this is kind of a vague question, but do you get the sense that these farmer's markets/CSAs are "popular" practice or activity in the city? Are the markets usually "bustling" with activity?
That red chile raspberry jam sounds really good right now.
I really like the downtown one on Saturdays, I've been to the one in Corrales a few times and they haven't had much in the way of vendors.
