If you want to trick-or-treat in a rich neighborhood, Glenwood Hills around Montgomery east of Tramway is a good area to go. There are always lots of houses handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. I have seen people parking their cars in varoius places around the neighborhood on Halloween before and then getting out and walking around, which may mean that they are not from the immediate neighborhood, but I don't mind that at all. I'll hand out candy to any kids that come by, whether they're from the immediate neighborhood or not.
My kids love going in our neighborhood the best and say they get the most and best candy (7-Bar area). They've gone with friends in the past and have gotten 1/2 as much candy. I've noticed that if you go to the larger homes, it's a lot more walking between the homes, so the kids have to walk twice as far and it takes much longer to fill the candy bag vs going to homes that are closer together where they can hit twice the amount of homes on one block.
I guess that's one advantage of living on the west side where they homes are closer together and the neighborhoods are full of kids vs older folk who turn their lights out.
So I have seen and heard that some cities are doing trick or treating on saterday instead of sunday.
ABQ is doing it on sunday the actual day of halloween right??
Some cities? I have never heard of that in New Mexico. For the past ten years Halloween has been on Halloween, the 31st of October in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho....
Some events may occur on another day like the ABQ BioPark Zoo annual Holloween party, Zoo Boo which will be on Saturday this year. ( Oct. 30th)

I heard something similar about the town of Foxboro, Massachusetts. But there, I believe it is mainly because that's where the New England Patriots play football and the town's leaders didn't want to have trick-or-treating on the same night as one of the football games.
However, I do think it's strange to trick-or-treat on a Sunday night. I honestly don't recall Halloween ever falling on a Sunday. One would assume it has, based on how the calendar works, but I don't ever remember one on a Sunday before. Last year was pretty cool with it being on a Saturday.
It'll be interesting to see how it goes this year.
One thing, perhaps showing my age, that seemingly doesn't occur any longer is "Mischief Night" the night prior, October 30th, where youths partake in their annual vandalism ritual, albeit, benign.
Back in '99 & '04 in New Jersey, trick or treat was done on the Saturday afternoon/evening.
I lived in Medford in 2004, my boy was almost 2 that Halloween, and I am pretty sure I remember taking him out around the village on Sunday, but in the late afternoon. Perhaps I am wrong though, it would be far from the first time!
Medford is a little la-di-da so maybe you fancy folk did Sundays
I just remember that my first halloween in the US was in '99 and when they were taking the kids trick or treating I remember being confused because it was done a day earlier.
