Cabezon will have the new Hospital across the street and HP will be moving in soon. Great place to live if you want to be close to just about all activities.

Loma Colorado area looks really nice also. I think they are marketing to families so they will likely have tons of kids in the area.

Default moving to rio rancho/looking for feedback

My family is looking to move to rio rancho this summer. Although we are confident about the weather, active lifestyle, finding housing, jobs and a good school, we have a few big concerns. One is that we don't know ANYONE there. We have heard that people are very friendly (we consider ourselves very outgoing and friendly, too) but are worried about finding people that have similar beliefs and values. We currently live in a small New England town. The people here tend to be closed-minded and not very progressive. Although we do have a few close friends,we have felt like we just don't fit in with the "Yankee" mentality here. Would someone please comment on this? Thank you in advance.

Just move in, smile...

People are easy to meet. Lot of events.

Welcome!

Get active in your community. Volunteer at a political office to meet like-minded people. If your kids are in school, get active in their school(s) to meet other parents. Get your kids on sports teams. I've met lots of other parents just by sitting around at sports practices. It might be a bit harder during the summer for your kids since school will be out, but that will change when school starts.

Thank you for the welcome and the positive feedback! Our kids are very active in sports and that is where we've met several friends here! Great advice to volunteer as well. Thank you!

Geesh, I had a longer message in my brain, I don't know where it went...

Like Lobo said volunteering. We have been involved in some events of people running for local office, food shelters, animal shelters, some school activities etc.

Church groups...

You should look through the Rio Rancho City Web Site if you haven't: The Official Site of Rio Rancho, NM

You can watch online or attend city meetings (I have mixed results on that)

You can get a variety of maps, brochures etc at the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce located in the New Mexico Bank & Trust Building on Southern Blvd. and NM 528. (South West corner of the intersection, sort of behind the A&W fast food.

The Rio Rancho Rec center has a good brochure of upcoming classes etc.

Depending on your family etc going to local places, historical or shopping. Hiking and biking are popular. I have dogs, I walk them almost daily various places: If you see someone walking these, honk: http://www.city-data.com/forum/membe...rio-grande.jpg That is here in Rio Rancho.

My daughter followed us out here abou 10 years ago, and we have grand children here. There has really been no lack of things to do, even if it's going out to eat to a place we have not been, or to one of the parks here and in ABQ...

If yo have some specific questions, ask...

Rich

LOL!! Too funny! Both dogs looking away from the camera in different directions.....like "I don't want my picture taken!" Neat pic and scenery.
