Has anyone tried Filiberto's in Bernalillo, located on Hwy 550?

I have not tried the Bernalillo location but have had them several times in the Phoenix area. Mexican food, large portions, seems like good quality. I like their tortillas...thin and kind of chewy.

We have been there twice since they opened.

We have no plans to return.

The garish colors of the place put me off on it.

What was wrong with it?

It's like some of the other AZ chains, very bright yellow and red. Federico's in RR is similar.

I think they use the lard in their beans. You need the lard every once in a while.

Stands out like a sore thumb. Raw, ugly, unlandscaped. A blight in an already ugly fast food strip.

I think it's hit and miss with their food. After some experimenting, I've settled on their carnitas burrito. Está muy rico.

We stopped by yesterday for one last test... Got a green chile burrito, beef burrito, and one half order of a "small nacho". Everything was fine. Portions were a bit too large, but that's what bags are for. The burritos probably weigh at least q pound. My wife said her beef burrito was "Very Good". We could not finish it all. The menu appears extensive, so there appears to be a lot of variety. Real variety. I think the sign outside "Under New Management", might be an indicator of my previous experiences...

For a fast, decent, inexpensive mexican meal in that area, this looks like the best deal for me right now...

Filiberto's has moved from Bernalillo to Rio Rancho, west of Hwy. 528 and north of Intel. Not sure whether it's opened yet.
