If it's like Dion's you'll have to fight the crowd of other hungry folks.
Sure seems like there's plenty of demand for restuarants in this area, hopefully we'll get some more built with the economic picture starting to brighten a bit.
In related news, the big pile of dirt and foundation work right next to the new Dion's is supposedly the site of what will be a new Chili's Restaurant.

I'd heard Chili's was going in there.
Anyone happen to know what that medium to large warehouse looking building is behind the Walmart and across from the correctional facility there? And weren't there supposed to be houses or something behind the Walmart?

That's a county building, It has a sign, but I just don't remember what it said.
There are some recent houses jammed together behind the Walmart, maybe 100 yards behind and the ground slopes down, so not as visible.

Not those...it's funny about those. I've been in three when they were Parade of Homes a couple of years ago. Nice houses, but arrogant builders who knew the Walmart was going up but assumed people would want to have a view of the back of it. Essentially no yards, prices started out high but were reduced and I believe some still empty. The guy who speculated on those also had his home foreclosed in Bosque Encantado. I am talking about the flat area immediately behind WallyWorld. I had heard homes, then that it was rezoned commercial and then that they wanted to fill the area in front of Wally first.

Not to go off a beaten path, but is Bernalillo a hip lil town? We drove through there yesterday and I noticed a flying star joint and some other little shops.

This will be a nice place to stop on the way northwest on 550. Stopping at Badass Coffee and then trying to get back onto 550 is a nightmare.

Another darned chain restaurant. Doesn't anyone else in these parts want to eat at non-chain restaurants where the food is better?

Sure, but I don't want to have to drive 5+ miles to do so. If someone would open a mom-n-pop breakfast place in Bernalillo I'd be all over it.
We do enjoy going up to the cafe in Placitas for breakfast every once in a while but even that is a bit of a drive.
