"It does have 2.2 Million. I would share the documents with you but I dont feel like getting in trouble."
So, you are saying that the City of Albuquerque believes that the population of New Mexico is a secret? Confidential? That makes no sense.

Even though I'm very pro-ABQ, you are 100% right. The downtown arena isn't going to happen anytime soon, UNM is decreasing the seating capacity by 1,500 at the Pit, and no one shows up to Santa Ana Star Center, it really is pathetic the direction we are headed. In the old days when the metro only had 350-500,000 selling out the Pit was no problem. I must admit I'm pretty discouraged with ABQ when it comes to building and maintaining performing arts centers and sports arenas. The one bright spot is Isotopes Park.

The Santa Ana star center is in Rio Rancho, not ABQ. And no one shows up because there are so few events scheduled there...checked out their events calendar lately? Only 2 things scheduled for August and one in September.

It is still part of the metro area, but they made the mistake of building in the middle of nowhere rather than somewhere along Southern or NM 528 where people could have traveled to more easily. When the center originally opened, they had plenty of shows but do to poor attendance, this is what you end up with.
Bottomline though, we will not have any major league sports anytime soon. And while we may see a downtown arena in the next 5 years, it won't be built big enough to ever land a top tier professional sports franchise.

Albuquerque is about 15 to 20 years away from getting a first tier" Major
League Sport Team" ..Hey The Whole State Of N.M. doesn't have a
population large enough to draw a Major League Team..NFL...MLB..NBA
...NHL.....ask all of the "Commish" and see what they going to "say"....

Im disapointed too that they decreased the seating in The Pit, I love it when it is just packed and so loud.
ABQ wants an arena that would be built more for Lubbock or Fargo,ND, I wonder what they are thinking, 12,000 seats, thats crazy.

Because there's no forward thinking in this city, they think for today not for tomorrow. They try to cut corners and save money, which ends up costing them more in the long run. It's funny the city hires a company to conduct a study on a new Arena and they come up with a 12,000 seat Arena? How is it cities like Tulsa and Omaha which are roughly the same size had the same studies done & ended up building 17,000 seat Arenas. Hmmmm something is rotten or crooked about the study & the city!!

The thing with the pit is, the seating is being decreased in the main bowl at all, so really capacity is being dropped in the Mezzanine. I don't see a huge drop in the experience of the place as a result of putting in luxury boxes in place of the mezzanine.
