Daveyjoe, if you haven't booked yet, I would recommend the Sandia Hotel & Casino. I stayed there four years ago during the fiesta and the hotel, at the time at least, was new and beautiful. Plus the views of the balloon fiesta were astounding! I didn't win much in the casino, but didn't lose much either. The restaurants there were very good as well.

Figured that I could put this in this thread since I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

I have a friend coming to Albuquerque from Denmark, and she will be here during the balloon fiesta. She really wants to take a balloon ride, but it's way more expensive than I anticipated, $400

If anyone knows any other services that provide rides or has any other information, I'd greatly appreciate it.

You picked the most expensive company. I was on a balloon crew for a few years, not commercial ballooning. I can not recommend anyone currently:

Here is a google search for the phrase albuquerque balloon rides start making calls: albuquerque balloon rides - Google Search

1. Many commercial firms launch from other areas.

2. Many/some flights are cancelled do to weather...

3. Here is a brief intro I started on ballooning, just the basics:

4. Some launches, not at the field, some were commercial flights. 2009 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Fourth day, October 6, 2009. Shot from one location off field, The church at the South West corner of Corrales Road and NM 528, Rio Rancho:

Good luck!
