I once heard someone call it Rio Rathole, which isn't really accurate [even if it is funny ].

RR is nice in terms of affordability, and has a pretty decent family vibe. I would consider living there if my work was nearby.

Default Traffic into ABQ

Hello all, my family will be moving to RR next week. We will be living in Northern Meadows and I will be working in ABQ at Central and San Mateo. Looking for the best route to take to get to that part of town. I don't know what the traffic is like but know it is busy. I have thought about: going up to 550 and then to 25
taking 528(but that seems really long and busy) and then:
take 25 to Central or
take 25 to San Mateo all the way down to Central

Any recommendations? I can make my own schedule so I don't necessarily have to be there at 8am. Could be 8:30 or 9 Thank you so much

25 to Central, to avoid the construction on San Mateo and I40.

Depending on traffic conditions, they could also take I-25 to I-40 Eastbound
--> get off on Carlisle Southbound
--> go East on Indian School, Constitution or Lomas to San Mateo.

Going all the way to Central and I-25 takes you more than two miles West of San Mateo.

Getting off at San Mateo and I-25 also doesn't mean one HAS to take San Mateo South.
You can hop on San Pedro as far North as Osuna.
Washington is also a good and peaceful North-South route that you can get on at Menaul.

Going through the Big-I is a huge peeve and should be avoided at busy times.

Had I moved to Albuquerque KNOWING that I was working at Central and San Mateo,
I WOULD NOT have picked Rio Rancho as a place to live.

We moved here not knowing where we would be living. Hubby's work said not to rule out ABQ, Farmington or Grants. Then they said ABQ, and suggested we check out RR to live. Which we did, and we like it here.

Travel to him is nothing. He used to commute 52 miles one way(back in Maine) and then drive all over during the day. Now he commutes 22 miles and still drives all over NM.

We are moving at the end of the month and will be 9 miles closer to ABQ, but still in RR. Its all in what one is used when it comes to travel time.
