APD normally does arrest gang members when they catch them breaking the law...

Albuquerque Police and federal agents arrested or charged 35 members of what they call the "Memphis Mob," a drug gang that moved to Albuquerque in recent years. Police have been rounding up the gang members since November on murder, robbery, burglary and drug-trafficking charges. They say they believe they have now caught the majority of the gang, plus about 12 other people associated with it.

might as well arrest the local gangs that break the law too, they do the same things the Memphis crew does.

I would agree. The other day I'm downtown. I overhear the local policeman say loudly to a couple walking against the light "We arrest jaywalkers in Albuquerque" I'm thinking to myself Why don't you think about arresting some of the real criminals here it might be more productive. That's what I want my tax dollars going for, busting a jaywalker for christs sake.

Albuquerque.....local gangs only please.

I visited ABQ last week and will be moving there in about 10 days. I did not get the impression it was a dangerous place. Do you guys notice alot of muggings, robberies, car jackings at all? I'll be living and working on the north side, near Paseo. I know there's some drug dealing drama, which I don't consider a major issue, but it's the homicides/violent crimes, if any, that I would like to know more about.

hey, I got warned about J-walking in Pasadena, Ca back in the late 50s. i didn't get a ticket and I would bet the cop wouldn't have given them one either, but a warning doesn't hurt..

I agree with nita. Stating something aloud as a deterrent does not hurt nor does it waste tax dollars. Now I would like to see the $2,000,000 check the mayor got yesterday from the Isotopes go towards improving and enlarging our Police Force.

Would you post a link to that story as a new thread. Bernco? I think it would be worth discussing. I'm very interested!

It happened at the game last night - the isotopes presented the Mayor with a check on field before the game.
