This will probably make more than a few of you Northern New Mexicans very hoppy!

Just in time for IPA Day:

In order to better serve their Santa Fe/Los Alamos/Taos fans, La Cumbre Brewing Co has just announced they have expanded their distribution of Elevated IPA cans to northern NM. Cans of Elevated IPA is now available at Sunflower Market (De Vargas Center) and Kokoman Liquors in Pojoaque.

Also, starting 8 Aug, La Cumbre will also have taps at the Cowgirl and Balconies on the Plaza.

(More to come soon...)

I heard that NM breweries have different rules for distribution and it makes it difficult to distribute NM beers to neighboring states like Arizona and Colorado but I heard beers can come in to NM quite easily. What is the deal with this?

I don't know about the rules for distribution, but Santa Fe Brewing company and Marble are distributed outside the state.

As far as I know, the judging was conducted in a secret chamber, admittance restricted to Certified Beer Judges. :-)

Albuquerque's big winners in terms of medal count (according to my quick perusal of the results) seem to be Il Vicino, La Cumbre, and Kellys. Tractor also pulled in a few medals, notably for their Scottish and Bock.

Outside of Albuquerque, Santa Fe Brewing Co. did very well. And there were a smattering of medals for most of Albuquerque's breweries so you can find a lot of good beer in this town!
