Edgeman is on a distinguished road
I have to say that I'm very happy to be a citizen of Edgewood. I too enjoy the quiet nights and the space I have. The growth doesn't bother me as that is usually the case with any 'new' bedroom community of any larger city.
What I've come to find is that the hills of (south) Edgewood have literally become a 'dump'. Every time I go out hiking I run into numerous dump sites where uncaring, irresponsible and ignorant people have trashed the area. Appliances, clothes, cars, trash and more scattered everywhere. Very sad situation. The abandon trailers and rental properties that set empty also make it depressing.
I'll hold out tho that things will improve in that area....and I'll try to help.

Hey Edgeman, We are definitely in agreement here, but where exactly is all that trash? We live North of 40, is this South of 40 and are there trails for hiking in the area? I thought I had to go to the Cibola National Park to hike. Thanks for posting. I do hope for 1 thing and that is some parks for my son to play in. If that doesn't happen we'll deal, but it would be nice.

Question Hello to Edgewood

I am currently looking at buying the land and house that are on 20 Sunshine Ct in the moutains just out of Edgewood.

Does anyone know how hard that is to get to during the winter months? i have 4 wheel drive but i don't want to be fighting the drive all winter. How much it would cost to get water hauled up there for a 1200 gal tank, approx $?
Do any cattle graze the area? My friend took photo's of the road a few days ago, and they are snow covered .. are those dirt roads covered with snow all winter long usually?

Thank you from Utah ..

No the roads are not covered with snow all winter. Remember we are very southern compared to the rest of the Rocky Mountain states. However when it does snow they almost always get more than us so there will be more snow but it does melt off.

Edgewood Resident Comment:

A couple of things. Illegal dumping and Drugs!

I live in south Edgewood and there is a huge problem with illegal dumping of just about anything.........old cars, abandon trailer homes, trash, etc. If you see anyone hauling trash into the area and leaving empty. Get description and call State Highway. I've talked to them and that is the instructions given.
The drug situation is hit and miss. A Meth Kitchen stinks and is obvious. Again......Report it!!

Hopefully residents here can be aware and report activities. I love my home here and the quiet nights.
The growth is fast-paced and I only hope we can get competent elected officials that know how to handle it all.

Oh........if you live in the Torrance County part of Edgewood....don't expect any roadwork or improvements. Santa Fe County has all the money.
