It is pure vanity, I admit. I drive an 11 year old car (still only has 70K miles on it though) so I don't have to make payments, and my mountain bike came from a pawn shop for $200. But I have expensive shoe and hair habits. I can't help it, I'm a chick.

Benco, if you have shoe or hair tips for me, I'll be very happy to give them their due attention, no discrimination here!

Poor Helena, she will get sick and die an early death from the toxic chemicals she works with. She should charge more.

Actually, one of the things I like about that salon is how proactive she is about using the least toxic of chemicals. Her hair color line, for example, is very gentle and unlike the Aveda color I used to get ( at the dreadful Pardo ) it does not fade with all of the sun we get.

I think the jury is still out on the level of formaldehyde that's REALLY in the BBO product. I know there was a lot of press about a stylist who claimed she got sick from using the straightener but then it was discovered the symptoms she had did not match exposure to high levels of formaldehyde.

I, too, drive an older car which is paid off, have 0 credit card debt, don't buy super expensive clothing, make a very good salary and my indulgences are hair and purses. And makeup.
