The coming nights should be a good time to take some photos of an orange moon.

Moon was orange when I got home tonight. It was interesting today. Gorgeous blue skies all day, even around 6:30 pm when we were looking out the window at the store. We got busy, looked out again about 7:15 - and the smoke was rolling in. By the time we closed and left at 8:30, you could see the haze on ground level in the street lights and it looked like light fog. Weird.

I hate that so much forest is burning because of one stupid person. The firefighters are doing an awesome job, though.

It was very bizarre last night. Never mind not being able to see the Sandias; even the next street corner was somewhat obscured by smoky haze.

How about the smell? We had low visibility again last night in Rio Rancho, but the smell of the smoke was pretty heavy...

We have not had anywhere this much smoke in the 12 years we have lived here...

According to meteorologist Joe Díaz, the area with the most smoke is just south of the Big I interchange.

Really dumb question....with all the ash in the air (and on my furniture, ugh), would it be a good idea when the fire is done (or the smoke gone) to ask my landlord to replace the swamp cooler pads and clean the water reservoir? Someone at one of my offices mentioned it and it sounded logical to me. Is it?

You can drain the water from the cooler several times. I use to have a hose connected to the drain so I could periodically do it from the ground...
