Any Good Water Parks in New Mexico?
We are moving to the ABQ area early next year. I was just wondering if there are any good water parks that are somewhat near that area. The only thing I found on the internet, was something down in Carlsbad, and it hardly qualifies as a water park. I love getting a summer pass to the local water park and taking the kids everyday. Can anyone help?

Albuquerque used to have a water park called "The Beach" but it had been closed for several years, and this summer it was sold. A majority of the slides, and attractions were sold to Santa Rosa. We are hopeful that they will get it rebuilt there quickly.
The owners of the water park said they were losing money each season they opened. I don't believe that because it was packed each time I went. I believe they sold the place because the land it was built on is prime real-estate next to I-25.
Unfortunately I don't think there are any water parks close to Alb. at this time.
whew, bad spelling.

Bummer Its hard to believe that they were actually losing money, when it was the only water park around for miles. I actually used to manage the aquatics portion of a waterpark, that went through bankruptcy. I couldn't understand how the owner was going bankrupt... but later I found out it was due to overspending on flashy vendors, and investing in his smaller buisnesses that went bust, and didn't allow him to pay bills on the water park itself. I hope somebody smart comes along, and gets another water park running near ABQ. Thanx for the info.

This is completely random, but why on earth would you leave London to come to Albuquerque? Haha.
Moving to England is a dream of mine, so naturally, I'm a bit biased.

As someone who grew up in America and then saw quite a bit of the World and has been living in England for sometime, I hate to disappoint you, but the UK isn't like in the Disney movies. It's overcrowded (60 million people live on an island not much bigger than NM), expensive ($8/gallon of gas) , organized in a way that limits common people to get anywhere in life (old money rules), healthcare is free, but you will die before you get to be seen by a proper specialist, and as far as general practicioners they will either prescribe you painkillers or antibiotics... they have no clue! 90% of public spending is badly mismanaged, and I haven't even started talking about the weather!
Come visit, admire the beautiful countryside, party in London, check out the history, wave at the queen, but unless you like having half of your salary disappear each month (under tax and national insurance) and see nothing in return, don't ever work here! Be prepared that as an american you will be identified with the current american White House administration regardless.
The middle class in the UK has been trying to escape from here for a decade or so, they are moving to Spain, France and Italy... so unless you are totally rich, there will be no point whatsoever in attempting to make an honest living here. If you happen to get an internship here after college, enjoy the experience of living outside the U.S, but permanent life here in a Socialist atmosphere is very difficult, and the middle class constantly struggles because of it.
Oh yeah, and 7 of the last 10 terrorist attempts (since 9/11) were plotted by British Muslims. There will soon be major problems here.
My husband's work here is done and we can't wait to see the back of London, "AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL" has even deeper meaning for us now! We are happy to raise our kids among all the culture and beauty that New Mexico has to offer. Four seasons, but with a mild winter, and easy access to snow when we are in the mood to play in it. Beautiful lakes, and great camping. Great food, and excellent schools in our area of choice, Rio Rancho. Not to mention Albuquerque was recently named one of the top places for work, and buying a house there can actually become a reality, unlike here in England, or in Southern California, where I grew up.

Wet-N-Wild Waterworld
I know there was a waterpark in Anthony, between Las Cruces and El Paso. Not sure if it's still there, but it was fun when I was in college (too many years ago).

As stated earlier, The Beach was the only game in town for any kind of large scale waterpark in northern NM. Here's a link that summarizes its history and demise: http://www.abqtrib.com/albq/nw_columnists/article/0,2564,ALBQ_19856_4877074,00.html (broken link)
The local amusement park, Cliff's, has some water rides plus a splash and play area, but its not what I would call a real waterpark. As far as I know, the closest "major" waterpark would be Water World up in Denver.

Well, I'm not really prospering in New Mexico as it is, so I'm willing to give it a try.
Everything's objective.

The water park in Anthony, TX is a Wet N Wild Waterpark, but not nearly as nice as some of the bigger parks in California. I hear that someone is trying to develop a new waterpark on the Westside but that will take sometime to come to fruition. There are some other fun places to visit here that aren't waterparks such as Hinkle Family Fun Center and Cliff's Amusement Park. Click the links below to see what they offer.

I like London, was there for a while, but like every tourist trap city its quite expensive. Surrey is a very nice place to live, and your pretty close to London too.
