Super Walmart Edgewood??
Does anyone know WHEN the Super Walmart is to open in Edgewood?? I am very curious as we are moving to Edgewood on Friday and there's not a lot close by to get things for the house. I googled it, but there wasn't any info as to when the opening would be. Our realtor guessed it would be this Fall.

One of the articles on TV said that the local school district is losing bus drivers to WalMart for the better pay and benefits.

I'm scratching my head over that statement about local district bus drivers leaving their jobs for better pay and benefits at WalMart? Huh? That seems to go against the norms of any community which experiences a WalMart opening....

That's due to the fact that NM is actually a rather "poor" state outside of the Taos, Sante Fe, and Albuquerque region. Walmart located in Edgewood, an area along with Moriarty (along I-40 and old RT 66) that has very little employment. The pay for school bus drivers is not much over minimum wage, if that. In fact, the folks around these parts only make minimum for most jobs in the "quickmarts", local stores and national chains. A stark contrast to kids getting paid $10.50 an hour and up, and 6 month retention bonuses for "burger pod" jobs in Denver, Ft Worth, and the like.
Sad to say, When you don't have anything else, Walmart can start looking pretty good.
