The two times I've been to ABQ. I felt very calm and released. My wife recently spoke to a nurse at a local hospital about feeling so much better when in ABQ. The nurses response was that ABQ and the state as a whole produces a natural dosage of lithium. Is this true? I couldn't find any such information and the web. I would like to think that the higher elevation and change of scenery has something to do with my overall happiness in ABQ.

Some places may have trace amounts of lithium in the water, but this would not be true of everywhere and if the levels were high enough to have a notable effect, those levels would be regulated by the EPA and would probably be filtered out. You are most likely right, change of scenery and elevation would be the much more likely variables.

It was called a "vacation." You were supposed to relax, that's why people take vacations.

I can't get a good night's sleep at home in ABQ, but when I go away on vacation I sleep like a rock. I think I need another vacation.

Lithium is a highly reactive metal and is never found in nature. Sorry, couldn't resist. I think lithium carbonate is the compound used in therapy. No, there wouldn't be enough in the water to matter.

I think it is because of all the nuclear radiation in the area.

How much nuclear radiation have you measured in the area?

Good NY Times article that talks quite a lot about the effect Lithium has on our feeling of well-being:
