Default Why so many car accidents in ABQ?

I drive from far NE (Tramway/PDN) to Carlisle gate of KAFB every workday. My normal route would be PDN-West, I-25 South and Gibson. I haven’t been here long enough, but I can hardly remember any workday without seeing an accident that causes delays. I have lived in LA & Boston before, although the traffic was much worse than here, most of the traffic jam I’ve seen in those places were not caused by car accidents. Just simply too many cars, bad weathers or terrible road systems.
I thought and tried going south from Tramway and I-40, Lomas or Central, but the traffic lights make it less than desirable to commute.
Does anyone have a good suggestion on the route?

Thanks.

The commute down Central isnt bad. I commute from Four Hills to the Carsile Gate every morning.

Interesting aside, it takes me 20 min each way, whether I drive or ride my bike (different routes obviously).

Tramway has much higher real-world speeds than Paseo does (they've eliminated a lot of Paseo's utility since the 90's).

I'd recommend you take a stopwatch to Tramway/I-40/San Mateo/Gibson (primarily) and Tramway/I-40/I-25/Gibson (secondarily). I had a similar commute many years ago; it would not surprise me if you were able to get to where you were going 5-10 minutes faster using these approaches.

I drive from 550 to I25S to Cesar Chavez, as I'm coming down from Rio Rancho. Unfortunately, it's full speed ahead until I hit the traffic coming off PDN. It's just the way it is. They allowed over-population of the Westside and Rio Rancho, and failed to accommodate with roads. You have two choices: leave earlier or leave later. Ok... three, ride the surface roads and deal with the lights every 1/2 mi. -- As far as the accidents go, they just like to play bumper cars here. I see accidents all the time as well, not sure about every day - but it's pretty often.

Just wanted to say this: I'm from Va, and you won't see damaged vehicles on the road. Here, they drive around with 1/2 a car, and it's ok! I've seen bumpers tied on. Mirrors duct-taped on. Garage bag back windows. Quad-colored cars, junk yard junkies! Side-swiped dents so bad you know they had to climb in from the other side. Ah the land of 35! (since nearly all the surface streets are 35mph) Gotta love it lol.
