Those chairs really do give you the impression that the restaurant wants you to sit, eat quickly, and GTFO.

It may be good, but it's not that it's "really that good" it's people line up because of the hype, because it's a name brand "In n Out" all hype, just because it has "cali" written all over it, their will automatically be a line of people. Jack in the Box was all hype too, went their, never really liked it. All these places "5 Guys (east coast)" all that is hype, and it "excites " people, doesnt mean its great food or anything though. Same with Chipotle, they make organic burritos, so what? I'm not going to wait 5 hours for a freakin burrito!

I live in Vegas and every one I have been to the line has been long. I love it and I would wait in line for it.. But if I had to wait outside I might just go to the next place across the street

A surprising fraction of customers don't even do that; they get their orders to go.

Makes you wonder if a drive-through version (picturing a 30-foot-long window) would do a lot of business. I bet it would.

One of those In-N-Out double drive through's would work.

Double drive throughs are everywhere (Wendy's, McDonald's) but what makes that less applicable to Chipotle is the Subway-style continuous one-on-one interaction that lasts for 60-90 seconds and 30 feet. Can't do that from two discrete standard-sized windows.

Maybe, but I suspect that "drive-thru" goes against the corporate eco-conscious ethic or something. Chipotle is well-established here so I've seen literally dozens of them, and not one was equipped with a drive-thru. Come to think of it, I don't know that I've ever seen one as a stand-alone building -- it's always part of a commercial strip or a sidewalk storefront.

Chipotle is my least favorite of all the burrito places I've been too. I'd say even Qdoba is better. We have a local place called KBueno that has way more options. I don't know how you can sell burritos and not even have jalapenos as an option to put on them.
